Health Care Assistant Program Coming to Northern Lights College
Northern Lights College will be offering a Health Care Assistant (HCA) program beginning in January 2014 and continuing through until August 2014. This education and training opportunity will be available at the Fort Nelson, B.C. Campus. The program will also offer theory and lab sessions at the Fort Nelson Hospital.
“We are extremely excited to be able to offer the Health Care Assistant program in Fort Nelson, for residents of the Northern Rockies region,” said Laurie Dolan, Fort Nelson campus administrator. “We know that when we are able to provide this type of training locally, it benefits not only our students but also our area residents who eventually will be assisted by our graduates.”
Students in the HCA program acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to operate effectively as front-line caregivers in community and facility settings, including such as adult day cares, assisted living and special care units and more. Interested students should hurry, though, as only a maximum of 10 seats are available in the program.
Northern Lights College (NLC) serves the residents of the school districts of Peace River (North and South), Fort Nelson, and Stikine. The college operates eight campuses and learning centres, situated in Atlin, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Dease Lake, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, Hudson’s Hope and Tumbler Ridge.
