The College Student Alliance Launches Mental Health Campaign

Mental health is always a hot issue across Canada’s colleges and universities. To help those in need, The College Student Alliance (CSA) is launching a campaign called #Blue2013.

“Initially this campaign was presented to the membership as a social media campaign but it has grown into so much more,” said Ciara Byrne, President of the College Student Alliance.

“Our members are not only working with their college and community but they are working within their Student Association to shed light on the delicate matter that is mental health within the post-secondary education system.”

#Blue2013 will coincide with the CSA’s other Mental Health Awareness campaigns over the next few weeks. It will highlight the various services that are available on and off their respective campuses through social media, on campus representation and activities on campus for students.

15 campuses across Ontario will be participating in this initiative, aiming to have this campaign in both the fall and winter semesters with all schools across Ontario participating.

The policy paper “Mental Health in Ontario’s Post-Secondary Education System” that CSA released in May 2012 as well as the CSA’s collaboration with the “Focus on Mental Health” summit helped with the creation of this campaign.
