2013 Federal Budget Praised by Academy of Learning College
Academy of Learning College (ALC) is pleased to see that the 2013 Canadian Federal Budget commits to funding private community colleges, like ALC.
“This funding is long overdue and enthusiastically welcomed by our sector,” said Heidi Collins, Director of Marketing and Sales for Academy of Learning College
“We are proud of our history. Academy of Learning College has been a Private Career College with 60 campuses across Canada for over 25 years. With programs in business training, healthcare training, and IT training, we are honoured to be a part of the Career College Sector which increases student choice, meets employer needs, and delivers economic growth through tax savings and new tax revenue.”
Some of the budget items that are poised to help private community colleges include the Canada Job Grant, which earmarks $500 million a year coming from Labour Market Agreements. This would give students grants of up to $15,000 to attend institutions, including private career colleges.
There is also another $23 million earmarked to promote education internationally, and $109 million to train First Nations students.
Academy of Learning College currently has 60 campuses across Canada, as well as global locations. They currently have campuses spread all over British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and The Northwest Territories.
