Choose a Career in Event and Venue Management

If you’re a highly motivated, well-organized person with good leadership skills, venue management could be for you.

Whether it’s a wedding, a staff outing or a sports event, social gatherings call for the right venue to make a memorable occasion. And the right venue needs the right people behind the scenes. If you’re a highly motivated, well-organized person with good leadership skills, venue management could be the career you’ve been looking for.

We’ve all been to establishments we would not recommend. When we find a venue that’s exceptional, we let friends and family know about it. That’s the difference you could make as a venue manager. It’s an opportunity to let your creativity show as you direct and oversee the operations of a venue. Responsibilities in this position could include implementing workplace policies, overseeing employees, coordinating specific events, and arranging entertainment for guests. Because the range of duties of a venue manager are very diverse, you’ll never be bored with your job.

There’s also room to excel, even opening up your own venue at some point. If you can work well under pressure and are good at customer service, as well as at dealing with those working under you, you’ll thrive in an event management position.

If starting at the top seems overwhelming, begin by getting the basic training with an event management course offered by a school that knows the hospitality and entertainment industries. Programs offered at Trebas Institute focus on contract negotiations, marketing, budgeting, event planning and venue operations so that you’ll have the skills you need to succeed in this fast-paced field. You’ll be qualified to work your way up as an assistant manager or a floor manager, or to offer your expertise as an event planner.

Show your guests what a good venue is and have the feeling of being in control, all with a career in event and venue management. Who knows, with hard work and dedication, you may even have the opportunity to pull out the red carpet and cater to some pretty famous people!
