MTI College Adds Pharmacy Technician Program

This fall, students across British Columbia can now study a Pharmacy technician program at MTI College. The new program has been granted provisional accreditation status.

The College’s graduates are eligible for the National Pharmacy Technician exams for regulation in the province of British Columbia.

MTI is one of BC’s most respected colleges and has 4 faculties and 6 campuses located throughout the lower mainland of the province. They have campuses in Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam, Chilliwack, Abbotsford.

According to the college’s website, “Emphasis throughout the program is the application of theoretical knowledge to practical skills. The programs outcomes and competencies are based on those set by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) and Canadian Pharmacy Technician Educators (CPTEA).”

Legislation recently changed in BC. Effective January 1st, 2011 only those who have completed the registration courses and exams, and have been registered with the College of Pharmacists of BC can use the term Pharmacy Technician. The new accreditation brings the college up to provincial standards.

The college is confident that the program will be a success, saying:

“We know our program will work for you as it did for the 93.87% of MTI grads that got employed last year.”
