Turn a life-long passion for video games into a dream job!

Does a career that lets your creative juices flow seem more like a dream than reality? Add the elements of adventure and competitiveness, and you’re probably thinking, ‘too good to be true.’ Not so if you consider a future in Video Game Design! To help you get to the top of your game, Toronto Film School is launching two new programs in this fun and exciting field.

Video Game Design and Animation and Video Game Design and Development, both being offered at Toronto Film School’s Steeles campus, can be completed in 18 months and both have been specifically designed with industry demands in mind. They offer hands-on training in creative and technical aspects, allowing graduates to start out with a well-rounded skill set for a career in the video game industry or in other related fields, such as audio engineering, film production, digital graphics, and entertainment.

Far from being just fun and games, the video game industry promises to be a lucrative choice, since the percentage of video game companies hiring or intending to hire new graduates has increased from 60% in 2011 to 77% in 2013. And according to one source, the industry has generated over $2.3 billion in gross domestic product for the Canadian economy in 2012.

“There has never been a better time to turn a life-long passion of video games in to a dream job,” says Jean-Paul Amore, Chair of the two Video Game Design programs at Toronto Film School. “Developing games is a field that requires passionate, creative and technical individuals to come together as a team. It is a team sport that requires training and perseverance. Nothing is better than the victory of having a game published.”

Located in Toronto, students will have the advantage of being in a location which hosts an array of video game firms, providing opportunties for networking and employment. Toronto Film School is now accepting applications for both programs. Are you game?
