Harris Institute’s Arts Management Program (AMP) once again impresses with a 0% student loan default rate for the sixth time in 8 years.

Harris Institute’s Arts Management Program (AMP) once again has plenty to brag about: the program has achieved an unprecedented 0% Student Loan Default Rate for the sixth time in eight years. To put that into perspective, all programs at Ontario’s Private Career Colleges that are eligible for student loans have an average default rate of 20.6%.

“We are very proud of this outstanding accomplishment, especially considering the struggles the music industry has endured in recent years,” says the college’s president, John Harris. “The outcome is due to our exceptional faculty preparing graduates for a wide range of careers related to music”.

The AMP program can also boast a connection to a certain music artist who has been very much in the news lately: Miley Cyrus: two of the program’s graduates are involved with Cyrus’s #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Wrecking Ball”. Jamie Porter manages Stephan Moccio, who co-wrote the song and Sven Heidinga, who is a graduate of both the Arts Management Program and the Audio Production Program, co-engineered the recording.

Harris Institute’s Arts Management Program is the only Canadian program to be included as one of Billboard Magazine’s top 25 North American music business programs in its recent education feature, “Rock Enrol.”

Every year, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities posts its “Key Performance Indicator” (KPI) for Student Loan Default Rates in order to “provide a picture for prospective students in choosing programs with successful outcomes. Higher default rates are an indication of greater financial risk.” With its 0% default rate, Harris Institute’s AMP program is undoubtedly one of the best programs for students who want a good return on investment.

“Student loan defaults have become a major problem in both Canada and the United States,” says Harris. “Taxpayers in the end pay the shortfall and we are very proud that Harris Institute has one of the lowest average Student Loan Default Rates of all postsecondary institutions in North America over the last eight years.”

The college was founded in 1989 and was the first to introduce accelerated one-year diploma programs taught by active industry leaders. It recently announced an expansion of the accelerated approach in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland. Harris students can earn a Diploma, Degree and Master’s Degree in 32 months with full scholarships for the Degree and partial scholarships with accommodation bursaries for the MA in Scotland.
