University Canada West Bridges Gap Between Diplomas and Degrees

UCW-Logo-bigUniversity Canada West (UCW) recently announced a new block transfer program that will help a new sector of students earn their degrees.

This fall, graduates of the Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) Public Relations Diploma Program will have the opportunity to transfer 60 credits from their diploma towards a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication.

“The essence of UCW is innovation in program delivery. For us, that means recognizing the full value students get from their existing education,” said Bruce Hiebert, the undergraduate program’s chair at UCW.

“Our concern is producing graduates who are ready to proceed into management and real-world success. Recognizing the value of strong diploma programs is a vital part of that outcome.”

Kwantlen PR graduates enrolling in the block transfer program at UCW can move forward with their education without retaking classes or going over skills already mastered. UCW said they consulted with industry experts to ensure the block transfers will help students complete a recognized degree that fits their existing education and their career needs.

“I applaud University Canada West’s innovative block transfer program,” said Frymire Fleming, chair of the KPU PR Diploma Program.

“KPU students often are the top entry-level new hires in the workplace during practicum and after graduating. Many continue with their education, so this is an opportunity that our PR students welcome.”
