Association of BC Teachers of English as an Additional Language Host Event
Residents of BC are invited to a fundraising event to help contribute to scholarships for refugees in Canada. The Association of BC Teachers of English as an Additional Language (BC TEAL) is hosting the event on March15th at Club 560 in Vancouver.
“The TCF is holding its next fundraiser on Friday March 15, with all proceeds going toward the Refugee Award Endowment Fund. We have already raised close to $50,000, and this upcoming event will take us even closer to our $100,000 goal,” said TEAL’s website.
“On March 15th, we invite you to Step Up & Step Out with your colleagues, family and friends for a social event featuring demonstrations by various dance artists, including Argentine Tango, Flamenco, Burlesque, Belly Dance, and more.”
2013’s winners include:
- Mary Ashworth Scholarship: Yuyue Zeng won an award of $1500.
- Pat Wakefield Scholarship: Michael Burri received $3000.00 to help fund travel to the University of Wollongong [UOW] in Australia to commence his doctoral studies
- Nan Poliakoff Memorial Award: Angelina Van Dyke received $750.
- BC TEAL/ TESOL Bursary: Was awarded to Jacqueline Foster, who received $1000.
The TEAL Charitable Foundation (TCF), which was established by BC TEAL in 1986, is constituted under the B.C. Societies Act and registered as a charitable organization with Revenue Canada.
