UPEI Student Wins New Mazda Through Facebook Contest
A fourth-year business student from The University of Prince Edward Island is driving a new Mazda 3 Sport GT after winning a contest on Facebook.
Kyle Simpson noticed that there were not a lot of entries in Mazda Canada’s Facebook contest, called “What Do You Drive?” so he took a shot at entering.
Mazda asked for videos, that simply explained “what do you drive?” Simpson took a slightly different and stylized approach to that question.
The winning video opens with Simpson narrating “What do I drive? I have a different question: why? Is it because I’m a student and I understand that the time spent perfecting something will pay off in the end? Is it because I’m a musician and I should never be asked to sacrifice sound quality?”
Simpson received his prize on November 1st and was quick to thank his marketing professor, Dr. Susan Graham, for teaching him the tools to put together a great video.
“Susan’s marketing class certainly influenced how I went about making my video. We had a contest in her class to make a commercial and I was able to apply a lot of what I took away from that exercise into this Mazda contest. It definitely paid off.”
