SPC Card Looks to Spark Slow Back to School Shopping Season

High tuition prices and a poor summer jobs could force more students to use the card.
We realize students don’t want to worry about going back to school just yet, but it’s never too early to think about saving money.
SPC Card launched this week, just ahead of what is expected to be a slower-than average shopping season.
“With the recent downturn in the stock market and economy, consumers will be very cautious in how they spend their money during the second most important shopping season of the year,” said SPC Card President, Dean Mazzariol.
The SPC Card is Canada’s #1 student loyalty program and is welcome at places like Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Aldo, Athletes World, The Body Shop, Bluenotes, Foot Locker, Jack Astor’s and Burger King.
High tuition prices and a poor summer for student jobs could force more students than ever to use the card.
“Going back to school always gets to be very expensive for me. Working part time, I always look for ways to stretch my limited student budget”, said Marsha Druker, a student at York University.
This year, SPC has grown its merchant coalition to include Banana Republic, Baskin Robbins, Domino’s Pizza, Gap, Jacob and Old Navy.
