The Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) recently conducted a survey to gauge the state of the workforce in Ontario. The results are in and look good for certified professionals with college diplomas.
Those with a college education in engineering and applied science technology can expect to earn an average of more than $70,000, with your total cash compensation reaching more than $77,000 per year. Also a college-educated technician or technologist diploma can earn you a mean salary of $70,510, which is well above Canada’s and Ontario’s average personal incomes.
Their data also shows that certified technologists and technicians can earn an average of $16,000 more than non-certified professionals, and that number can add up to $276,000 over a 30-year career.
"The findings clearly show that investing in the OACETT certification pays off significantly for members," said David Thomson, Chief Executive Officer of OACETT. "Becoming certified is like getting a permanent raise of $16,000 a year."
The survey polled more than 3,300 Ontario members, all coming from different industries and representing different positions.
