Toronto’s CDI College Adds Video Game and Animation Programs

Video game companies will continue to seek out imaginative people who possess the technical skills needed to create the next big hit
CDI College’s Toronto campus has added 2 digital art programs and are now offering a 3D Modeling Animation Art and Design Program, as well as a Game Development and Design Program.
Students studying the Game Development and Design program will learn the industry-standard technology used in the game, animation and CGI industries, in a 72-week program.
“Canada’s video game industry is the third largest in the world, right behind the US and Japan, and it’s expected to grow,” said Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for CDI College.
“As growth continues, video game companies will continue to seek out imaginative people who possess the technical skills needed to create the next big hit. The Game Development and Design program is designed to help students hone the skills they need to excel in the industry.”
The 3D Modeling Animation Art and Design program will teach students colour theory, design fundamentals and life drawing. They’ll also learn about a range of techniques such as lighting, texturing, character animation and layout and design.
“In recent years Toronto has become a major centre for the visual effects, animation and post-production industries,” said Heinzlmeir.
“This fuels the demand for professionals who have the right combination of imagination and technical skills needed to work on a range of creative projects. The 3D Modeling Animation Art and Design program targets the essential skill set graduates need to be successful in the industry.”
