Despite the way they’re portrayed in films, today’s butler is anything but a stuffy old Englishman. Today, the field is attracting people of all ages, from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Supervising the other domestic staff
- Hiring and organizing the other household staff, such as housekeepers, cooks and maids
- Valeting the client’s wardrobe
- Assuming the role of a Personal or Household Secretary
- Keeping the family agenda
- Assisting in cooking as well as serving meals and drinks to guests
- Arranging the table for serving meals
- Receiving guests
- Maintaining household security

What Else Do I Need:
You will obviously need excellent public communication skills. You will also need a strong passion for serving guests, while having the ability to collaborate with other staff members.
Where The Jobs Are:
You will almost always work for private employers. So networking and aligning yourself with people who are already in the business will help you find work.
Once hired, ideally, you can excel in your position and develop a strong working relationship with your client for years.
Larger cities and markets will have more opportunities, as they have more wealthy households.
