
U of T and McGill Make World’s Top 20 University List
Canada’s universities are gaining more respect on the global landscape. Recently, both McGill and The University of Toronto made the top 20 in the 2012/13 QS World University Rankings. McGill was ranked at #18, followed immediately by U of T at #19.
As a whole, there were only 4 countries represented in the top 20, with only schools from Canada, the US, UK and Switzerland making the list.
The official top 20 is:
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
- University of Cambridge
- Harvard University
- UCL (University College London)
- University of Oxford
- Imperial College London
- Yale University
- University of Chicago
- Princeton University
- California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
- Columbia University
- University of Pennsylvania
- ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology)
- Cornell University
- Stanford University
- Johns Hopkins University
- University of Michigan
- McGill University
- University of Toronto
- Duke University
Elsewhere, no Asian schools made the top 20. HKU (23) leads NUS (25) and Tokyo (30). There was also no Indian university in the top 200, while China has two in the top 50: Peking (44) and Tsinghua (48) and another five in the top 200.
