Canadian Tourism College’s Owners Win Women in Business Award

Canadian Tourism College’s owner and operator Kim Russell (and business partner Gwen Donaldson) has been awarded a Surrey Women in Business Award for 2012 by the Surrey Board of Trade.

Russell and Donaldson were honoured at a ceremony at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel in early March, as they were recognized in the entrepreneur category. There were also awards given out in categories such as leadership, corporate, professional, not-for-profit and executive.

The Surrey Board of Trade represents 3600 member contacts, and over 30,000 employees, representing 1500 businesses.

Canadian Tourism College has been offering travel, tourism, hospitality and flight attendant training since 1980. They have two campuses in British Columbia’s lower mainland, as well as franchise operations in Vietnam and the Philippines.

They are the first accredited tourism college in British Colombia, and the only specialty career training institution that focuses on the hospitality, travel and tourism industries.

2012 has been an award-filled year for Canadian Tourism College, so far. In February, their online travel agent certificate program earned a 3-star endorsement from the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC). They have also won two Surrey Board of Trade Business Excellence Awards and a Cultural Diversity Award.
