Harris Institute ‘Highly Recommended’ in Media Arts Education
Apparently, it’s not only students who are trying to get top grades. In a 2014 Media Arts Education Report Card, Harris Institute came in with a top mark of A+, making it a highly recommended provider of audio production and music industry education.
The report card, which is the only source for comparative information in media art education in Canada, has had over 100,000 visitors since 2007. Its creator, Jim Lamarche, notes: “Graduates from Harris indicated the highest satisfaction rate and had the most positive reviews of all the schools reporting. It’s truly unique – humble and yet a powerful little institution giving it the edge.”
An internationally known leader in music industry education, Harris Institute has an impressive roster of successful graduates, including some who contributed to Miley Cyrus’ #1 Billboard hit “Wrecking Ball” and Katy Perry’s “Song of the Year” Grammy nominated “Roar.” Alumni of Harris Institute now work in senior positions from Universal Music to Lacquer Channel and IMAX to Metalworks. In order to offer Master’s Degrees, the college expanded its partnership with the University of the West of Scotland in 2013.
One graduate, Phil Demetro, expressed his satisfaction this way: “I loved the single-mindedness of the program—it was 100% all about music. The people I met and teachers were fantastic. The classrooms were full of people that had dreams just like mine. The school helped me distill what I wanted to pursue. The Harris Institute was great from the moment I walked in the door.”
For many others still looking to pursue their dreams in media arts, the fact that quality education in their chosen field is alive and well is music to their ears.
