VCAD Announces Two New Video Game Development Programs
The Visual College of Art and Design (VCAD) has added two new video game development programs to respond to a high industry demand. This winter, VCAD is adding Mobile Game Design & Development and Game Development & Design programs.
“VCAD grads have been impressing employers in the art and design world for years. These new programs will now bring VCAD’s specialized training to those interested in entering the game development industry,” said Bohdan Bilan, VP of Academics.
“With a number of game development companies calling Vancouver home, this is the perfect time to start training for a career in this dynamic field.”
Canada’s video game industry is currently the third biggest in the world, following Japan and the U.S. It accounts for over 16,000 jobs and has produced many mega hit games like Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, Mass Effect, and FIFA, just to name a few. Vancouver alone is home for major video game companies like EA, Radical and Ubisoft.
Both programs are currently accepting applications and will cover areas such as lighting, texturing, color theory and design. The end goal is to build a professional portfolio for graduates to present to employers.
