CDI College Adds Event Planner Program to Vancouver Campus

Want to go to all the best events? How about plan them? CDI College recently added an Event Planner program for students in the Vancouver area.

“Event planners work on a variety of projects, from small scale events and corporate conferences to trade shows and festivals,” said Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for CDI College.

“The job requires them to take the lead role in a number of areas while keeping the big picture in mind. The Event Planner program will help students develop the skills and knowledge to do this.”

Students in the Event Planner program will learn:

  • To design, plan and stage a range of events, from weddings and seminars to conferences and exhibitions
  • Live entertainment management, catering, business communications and sponsorships
  • Bookkeeping and financial accounting, risk management
  • The principles of human resource management
  • Sales, marketing, destination management and conventions

WorkBC is forecasting a spike in the demand for event planners, with job openings expected to come from retirements, increased demand for event planning professionals and may be in response to positive economic growth in the province.

CDI College is now accepting applications for the Event Planner program.
