The National Academy of Health & Business Adds Registered Pharmacy Technician Diploma
Students in Mississauga can now study a new Registered Pharmacy Technician Diploma program at The National Academy of Health & Business (NAHB).
“According to Workopolis and Service Canada, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants are expected to be two very high-demand careers in Canada in the near future. This is likely due to Canada’s aging population contributing to a continued demand for healthcare and related services,” said the school in a media release.
The new program was recently awarded the status of Qualifying Accreditation by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (“CCAPP”), giving NAHB the green light to offer an accredited program.
The first Pharmacy Technician program students will start on January 30th, 2012 at NAHB’s Mississauga campus. The accelerated diploma program will have students studying in class and in labs for 40 weeks, and then venturing out on an 8-week hospital and retail pharmacy job placement.
Students will learn in a dedicated state-of-the-art 500 square foot laboratory, as they learn to verbally accept prescriptions and learn to remotely operate an independent pharmacy.
Because the program is accredited, it qualifies for OSAP, Second Career, interest free payment plans, loans, and other financial assistance.
