Vancouver Community College Fashion Arts Graduates Present Collections

Twenty-eight Vancouver Community College fashion arts graduates got a chance to show off their design collections at the Fiat Mode XXIV gala, at the Italian Cultural Centre.

“The buzz is in the air and it’s fashion time at VCC once more,” said Sal Ferreras, vice president, education and student services.

“I am very excited about the look, quality and range of this year’s fashion collection.”

Each year, fashion arts graduates get a chance to refine their collections in everything from lingerie to active, sport and evening wear.

“My pieces were a study in textural soft structure,” said VCC grad Taborsky-Tasa.

“I was also inspired by the interplay of light and shadow, similar to the photographic styling of Alfred Stieglitz and Tim Flach.”

Each year, the Fiat Mode XXIV collections showcase the amazing twork of fashion arts graduates. This year, VCC grad Anika Yuzak was looking to push her boundaries with this collection.

“I was inspired by the styles and colours of the flower children of the 1970s,” says Yuzak.

“I was also interested in exploring print design and sustainable fabrics through the use of patchwork detailing and colourful sun bleached organic fabrics.”
