Porn Website Confused With Coquitlam, B.C. School District Website

Parents and students doing image searches for School District #43 in Coquitlam have received some interesting results recently.

The school boards URL is unfortunately close to an adult website’s address, which has caused adult images to become intertwined in search results.

The U.K man who hosts the website was contacted by the school board with their complaint, and immediately conciliated them by taking the website down to help solve the problem.

School board members said they were pleased, and borderline surprised with how cooperative the “pornographer” was in helping them. He even went as far as contacting his site’s web hosting company in New York to ask that Google, Bing and Yahoo remove all traces of the explicit content.

Now begins the damage control. Unfortunately, it’s hard to completely remove a footprint such as this from the internet, and vanquish any evidence of the previous website. Content from the adult site has been re-posted and re-blogged, making it hard to wipe the internet’s memory clean.

The District 43 Parent Advisory Council and the Coquitlam Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association are crafting a strategy on how to inform parents about the unfortunate mix up.
