Guru Digital Arts College Offers Game Development Diplomas
In 2003, Guru Digital Arts College opened their doors to their first crop of students, and were thrilled just to have a Starbucks on the next floor.
Since then, the school has upgraded their enrollment, their intake and program offerings to become an emerging force in the creative sector.
Last Friday on April Fools Day, the school put on a serious show for their 3rd Annual Gala Guru. The event is designed to showcase the school’s programs and their student’s work.
“The Guru team and 319 (yes, it was PACKED!) of our friends & industry partners, students & graduates, and fans of all things “geek-chic” spent the evening at the stunning AGA celebrating the accomplishments of the past year, and getting excited for the plans we have in store for 2011,” wrote the school’s spokeswoman, Erin Hazen in her blog.
Guru recently added a world-renowned illustrator to their roster of instructors. Nat Jones brings 20 years of experience and insights to their new Digital Illustration and Sequential Art (DISA) Diploma program.
“We wanted to develop a program that covered both the creative professional aspects of illustration but balance that with practical business strategies that allows an artist to survive in today’s world of digital media,” said Jones.
Jones has worked with industry heavyweights like Todd MacFarlane, Steve Niles, Rob Zombie, and Frank Frazetta, and will help students learn to illustrate for graphic novels and comic books.
“We are stoked to have Nat on board,” said Executive Director, Owen Brierley.
”He is totally what Guru is all about. Professionalism, dedication, passion, rockstar.”
