Classdroid is a mobile app with teachers in mind.

As dozens of mobile apps pop up every day to help students learn, teachers can now say “finally one for us!”

The Classdroid is a new app for the Android that seeks to help teachers assess and upload a student’s work in a matter of seconds. Teachers to quickly take a picture of the students’ work, then grade it, and upload it to a pupils or class learning portfolio.

The app also caches the name of the student, so teachers can use the profile for an entire school year. To protect the security of the data, all information is encrypted when stored. The designers recommend that if the mobile device is not Remote Wipe enabled, teachers should use nicknames instead of the student’s real name. There is also an option to ask for a password on start-up.

While the app doesn’t seem to be well-suited for massive projects, essays, or thesis papers, it could serve as a time-saver in sorting through much smaller projects, particularly for large class sizes.

The app was designed by the U.K.-based company John McLear’s School Technology. It’s currently only available for the Android, with plans to release an iPhone edition if the demand presents itself.
