Canadian Tourism College Students Raise Funds with Fiesta
Students at the Canadian Tourism College recently raised funds and had fun with their fiesta night.
The Hospitality & Resort Management students hosted and organized a Fiesta Fundraiser, with all proceeds going to UNICEF.
The students chose UNICEF as their charity, because they wanted to support the School In A Box program, which gives 80 in-need children the educational necessities they need, such as a teacher, blackboard, books and more for a small cost of $260.
The event is part of the CTC’s Food Operations Management course. Students are required to host a fundraising event for a charity of their choice. The event must have a theme, a meal and be organized with a meagre budget of only $100.00.
The event was a huge success, as students served homemade Mexican chilli in bread bowls with non-alcoholic margaritas. Guests got to enjoy the festive decorations, while playing games and winning prizes that were donated from local businesses, including a luxurious bath robe from a prestigious Vancouver hotel as the grand prize.
The staff and faculty are extremely proud of their students for pulling together as a team, and surpassing their fundraising goals.
