London Students Back to School After Massive Snowfall
Well, it was a welcome break for some, and a stressful nightmare for others. But a 72-hour snow day for most of London is over and students are heading back to class.
Fanshawe and Western saw their campuses and services come to a complete stop, as the city of London was pounded by a massive snowfall this week. Classes were cancelled, transit services were closed, and campuses were snowed in.
According to TheWeatherNetwork.com, the O.P.P. have responded to more than 300 calls about accidents since Sunday. On Sunday night, westbound lanes of Highway 401 in London were closed in the early evening because of “multiple collisions,” according to the Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation.
The day December 7th seems to be cursed in the London area. The last time the city saw a massive snowfall of this magnitude was on December 7, 2006, while their highest 24-hour snow fall ever was on December 7, 1977.
After over 100 centimeters of snow fell in a four-day period, things are returning to normal. Exams are predicted to continue as scheduled at Western and Fanshawe.
Students are advised to look for information about cancelled classes in their school email account, their school’s website, or their school’s Facebook or Twitter page.
