Canadian Universities Receive $2.8 million To Study Population Interventions
Fourteen research projects in Canada received $2.8 million in funding today. The money will fund research projects relating to population interventions and their health impacts.
The announcement was made at The Population Health Intervention Research Symposium in Toronto. The Vice-President of Research at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Dr. Pierre Chartrand said, “CIHR recognizes the importance of supporting researchers who evaluate the effectiveness of population interventions aimed at improving the health of Canadians.”
“The work of talented researchers who are leading the projects announced today will contribute to our knowledge of effective population health policies, programs and strategies.”
This funding will go to research at:
- The University of British Columbia
- The University of Manitoba
- Université de Montréal
- Université Laval in Québec
- The University of Toronto
- The University of Calgary
- The University of Victoria
- The University of Ottawa
- Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal
- Université de Sherbrooke
- Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
These funds will also sponsor research into topics such as the influence of nutrition and physical activity policies on the school environment and weight outcomes, or evaluating the new Ontario tobacco retail sales strategy.
