Centennial College’s Ann Buller named one of Canada’s most powerful women
Centennial College President and CEO Ann Buller was honoured this week, by winning the Cisco Public Leaders Award, as part of the 2010 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards.
“I am blessed to have roles that let me combine my passion and beliefs. The real power in my life is what I see happen every day at Centennial College: students whose lives are changed because of the commitment of our employees,” said Buller.
The Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 list is presented by the Women’s Executive Network and showcases female leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
A community college graduate herself, Buller has led Centennial College since 2004. She has made it her mission to incorporate global citizenship and social justice principles into Centennial’s school culture. Her recent work at the college has seen her spearhead the HYPE community outreach project, which helps youth in underserved neighbourhoods find summer jobs.
“My wish is to be a powerful voice advocating for equity and social justice, for women, for the transformative power of education, and for Canada’s colleges,” says Buller.
The awards were given out at the Top 100 Awards gala dinner, held at Toronto’s Allstream Centre on Monday.
