triOS College has once again been designated an award winner when it comes to redefining post-secondary education. For four years in a row, the school has received the Deloitte Best Managed Company Award, leading to this year’s title as a Best Managed Gold Standard Winner.

The business, technology, and healthcare school credits this achievement to its willingness to listen to student and employer needs. The career college focuses on the specific skills that graduates need to enter the workforce and programs are kept shorter in duration so students can quicly get into the job market. As part of their career-focused approach to education, most courses include internships that help students gain valuable real-world experience.

Since employers are an important part of the job equation, their requirements are a key factor in the program development process. triOS President Stuart Bentley remarks: “We review market trends, job shortages and work with employers and governing bodies to create programs that are in demand in the marketplace.” As a result, many programs have achieved industry accreditation that makes for easier transitions from the classroom to the workforce . This translates into happier graduates and satisfied employers.

Other factors contributing to the school’s success include capable staff and their desire to connect with students on an individual basis to find out what they expect to receive from an educational institution. Staff can then pass on this information through various strategies that have been put into action, such as webinars and a forum for monthly reviews of submitted suggestions.

The prestigious award comes from Canada’s Best Managed Companies, the hallmark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million. The national award is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, Queen’s School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums. Hundreds of entrepreneurial companies who compete for the award go through a rigorous and independent evaluation of their management skills and practices.
