Opportunity Knocks: Student Contributors Being Sought for Maclean’s On Campus
If you’re a student and you have some article ideas to pitch, Maclean’s On Campus is interested in hearing from you. With the fall semester rapidly approaching, the online magazine is looking for contributors who have story ideas on everything from campus news to opinion pieces and advice. Students can pitch stories with audio, video and photo galleries, to make their article that much more interactive.
Students from across the country are eligible to contribute, and while most are post-secondary students, high school students are also invited to pitch ideas. Experience isn’t necessary – just an ability to write compelling pieces that visitors will read and share with others.
What are some of the benefits of contributing?
- Maclean’s On Campus pays for original stories and will also consider reprinting exceptional newspaper articles;
- There’s no commitment: you can write one piece or you can contribute on a regular basis.
- Course credit can be arranged, where possible.
- You’ll get invaluable experience and build your writing portfolio.
Students who are interested in participating are invited to visit Maclean On Campus’ website and suggest a news story through their “Contact Us” option. There is no deadline to apply: the magazine vets story ideas throughout the year.
Not Quite Ready to Pitch Yet?
If you’re not quite ready to submit article ideas to Maclean’s On Campus but are interested in getting some copy writing or journalism experience under your belt, why not consider studying journalism or media studies? These are just some of the post-secondary institutions that offer programs that will improve your writing skills, teach you the ins and outs of communication and publishing, and build up your confidence.
