CDI Toronto Adds Community Services Worker Program
Students in Toronto who want a rewarding career as a community services worker can now get trained in under a year. CDI College recently announced they are now offering a Community Services Worker program in Toronto.
“Community services workers are an essential part of our healthcare and social systems in Canada, and there is a growing demand for them across the country,” said Larry Heinzlmeir, CDI College’s VP of Marketing.
“The Community Services Worker program provides students with the practical training they need to start in this rewarding and fulfilling career field.”
They are already accepting applications for the program. Graduates will be qualified to find careers in alcohol and drug treatment centres, family social service agencies, group homes, community mental health centres, school programs and more.
The 33-week program will cover areas of study such as diversity and social justice, poverty, addiction, mental health issues and working with families. Community resources, case file management, report writing, burnout and self-care are also covered.
According to Services Canada, this is a booming field. In their job outlook analysis, they state that, “Over the past few years, the number of community and social service workers has risen very sharply. This growth is attributable to the large increase in the range and intensity of social service needs, and the handling of a growing proportion of these needs by community organizations.”
