GE Offers Scholarship Program for Aboriginal Students
GE Canada is looking to help young aboriginal youth go to college or university. They are now accepting applications for their second annual GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program for Aboriginal Canadians.
“The GE Foundation Scholarships offer a unique opportunity to students who receive financial support as well as mentoring and leadership training as they pursue their degrees,” said Terry Peach, Manager, GE Human Resources.
“Investing in Aboriginal Canadians is a great way for all of us to work together and learn more about the tremendous potential of next generation business leaders who will shape Canada’s future.”
The scholarship is open to Canadian resident Aboriginal individuals, including First Nation status or non-status, Métis or Inuit.
The program will give financial support and skills development opportunities for 5 first-year undergraduate students from recognized institutions in Canada.
The 5 winners will all receive a grant of $4,000 per year in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of the student’s undergraduate program. Winners also get mentorship from a GE business leader in Canada, participation in specially designed leadership development seminars, and participation in community development projects.
