Memorial University of Newfoundland Grad Named Global Champion
Last week, Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Mike Wahl, was named Student Entrepreneur National Champion. Wahl is the Founder of Definitions Wellness Safety Services and said he was honoured by the award.
“This is the ultimate recognition for the Definitions team and a great way to celebrate all of our hard work,” said Wahl. “I am so proud of everyone involved.”
Wahl was honoured at the 2011 GSEA global finals, in New York City, where he took the floor of the New York Stock Exchange to present his business to an international panel of entrepreneurs. He was chosen to represent Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE).
Wahl and his business partner Mike O’Neil have succeeded by bringing personal training and wellness services to remote locations. His clients work in the oil and gas sector, so he brings his services to their offices and industrial sites, including offshore oil rigs. His company now has 27 employees and offices in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Houston, Texas.
“Mike is a shining example of the positive power of business,” said ACE President, Amy Harder. “His entrepreneurial spirit coupled with his compassion for the community is inspiring. He has shown the world that Canada is a nation where young people can turn their dreams into a reality.”
