Fanshawe Adds CTV’s Robert Hurst as Broadcast Professor
This fall, Fanshawe College is adding decorated Canadian broadcaster Robert Hurst to their staff.
Hurst will serve as a visiting professor to their Broadcasting–Radio and Journalism–Broadcast diploma programs, and the Broadcast Journalism–Television News graduate certificate program in the School of Contemporary Media.
“The addition of Robert Hurst to our faculty team brings years of story-telling and news gathering experience,” said Bob Collins, Coordinator of Fanshawe’s Journalism and Radio Broadcasting programs.
“Robert’s global travels as a Broadcast Journalist and his success leading CTV News has been recognized with international awards.”
Hurst retired from CTV news after 38 years of broadcasting, and being named the most powerful person in Canadian television news, by TV guide in 2007.
“The national-award-winning Fanshawe College Broadcasting programs and students will benefit from Robert’s vast knowledge as the curriculum evolves with digital and social media reporting,” said Collins.
Hurst’s career started with CTV’s Canada AM in 1973, and has earned him six Gemini Award nominations, including three Best Reportage nominations, as well as the RTNDA President’s Award for distinguished service to the broadcast industry.
Under Hurst’s leadership, CTV News became Canada’s first choice for both national and local news.
