Reeves College Students Replace Textbooks with iPads
25 students from Reeves College’s Lloydminster campus will be the envy of their classmates this year. Instead of lugging around a bag full of books, everything they need will be on an iPad.
As part of a Reeves College initiative across Canada, students will be given iPads that are pre-loaded with all the textbooks and materials they will need to complete the program.
“With iPads in the classroom, Reeves College students will benefit from a more interactive and enriching learning experience,” says Dr. Bohdan Bilan, VP of Academics for Reeves College.
200 students will be taking part in the program this fall, with over 1000 iStudents expected over the next 12 months. The tablets come loaded with Pearson’s eText for the iPad, a textbook technology that helps students to take notes, bookmark pages, highlight text and interact with classmates and instructors, in and out of the classroom.
Reeves also just released a list of the top 5 recommended Apps for education purposes, which included:
- iBooks
- Pages
- StumbleUpon!
- Penultimate
- Yelp
“With training from Reeves College, graduates are more than prepared for future careers in healthcare, business, the legal field, and art and design,” said Bilan.
“Introducing iPads and eTextbooks into the classroom will give our students yet another advantage over their competition.”
