5 Student Start-Up Ideas for College and University Students
Facebook, Microsoft and Apple are all good examples of what a college or university student can do with a strong idea and hard work.
But your idea for a start-up doesn’t have to be that grandiose. Your small business idea can just start out as a way to create your own job, instead of searching for one.
Like the Joker said, “If you’re good at something, never do it for free.” So, if you have a skill or talent that people will pay for, why not try to turn it into a small business?
Here are some examples of simple, but profitable businesses that college and university students have successfully run.
1) Wedding Photographer
If you have a quality camera and a good eye, you can spend your summer months photographing weddings. You will have to give up most of your weekends, but the payoff could be worth it.
2) Advertising
If you’re already studying graphic design, P.R or copywriting, you should be able to reach out to other up-and-coming companies that need marketing materials, but don’t have a lot of money.
3) Landscaping
Your start up costs might be a bit high, if you don’t have all the required equipment. However, if you have worked in landscaping before, you might have enough knowledge and experience to attract a few customers. You can even hire a few friends.
4) Painting
Like landscaping, your start up costs might be a problem if you don’t already have equipment. But many people simply don’t want to pay the price most seasoned and professional painters charge, so they welcome a student-painter’s rate.
5) Deejay services
If you love music and have an outgoing personality, you might be able to find work as a deejay for special events like weddings or Christmas parties.
